Spirit Day

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

RIP Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase (middle)
RIP Asher Brown and Billy Lucas. (bottom)

REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.

This Friday is my second birthday for the year! It's the anniversary of my brain surgery (5 years). My husband says September 3 when I woke up from surgery was the beginning of my new life so I get an extra birthday a year. :)

Trials of Innocence

My son's band, Trials of Innocence (you can find their stuff on Facebook and MySpace), just went to Los Angeles from Wisconsin just to raid the Whiskey-A-Go-GO club. They pulled up in front (illegally parked in the street) with their equipment set up on a flat-bed trailer and started playing. They got through 3 songs before the cops showed up. The cops were so cool that they shut down that part of Sunset Boulevard just so they could finish their set!!! How cool is that?

Please check out their music on MySpace and Facebook. They have also done 2 video's that are posted on YouTube. They have also already cut a cd (that could have been better).

Just thought I would do a little PR work for my son and his band. :)

Thanks for listening!

XOXO Patricia
1. First Name:

2. Age:
43 - yep, I am that old and I don't even try to pass myself off as being any younger as I look and feel EVERY one of those years.

3. Location:
I live in the Village of Mishicot in the State of Wisconsin in the wonderful United States of America. Mishicot is right on (okay, beside) Lake Michigan (about 30 minutes drive south of Green Bay-I know that doesn't mean jack sh*t to most people).

4. Occupation:
Well, I am old so I have done quite a few jobs. I went into the Navy right after high school. I was a bank teller, did various clerical jobs and worked in a nuclear plant. I left the nuclear plant when I was 6 months pregnant with my second kid. I am a homemaker now raising my 7 year old daughter and being a baby sitter for my 9 month old granddaughter. I would like to go back to work at least part time but I can't as I had brain surgery 5 years ago and I still suffer from daily headaches so I cannot work (which sucks).

5. Partner:
I met my husband when we were both in the Navy 25 years ago. Our 24th wedding anniversary is coming up this December 22. BTW, yes, he does know about my obsession with band boys and fan fiction. :)

6. Kids:
I have 2 kids. My son is 22 and is no longer living with us. He lives about 25 minutes away. He has a 9 month old daughter. I also have a 7 year old daughter. She is in 2nd grade.

7. Brothers/Sisters:
I have 1 brother(40); 2 half-brothers (23, 17 I think); I did have 2 step-brothers until my step-dad died 21 years ago.

8. Pets:
I have had so many over the years (dogs, fish, hampsters, rabbit). I am now down to 2 dogs. We rescued a Foxhound/Coonhound mix from the pound. I also have a Cocker Spaniel that my husband got me for Christmas a few years ago after I had lost my last Cocker Spaniel. We had our previous spaniels for 15 years and I had to put the last one down that year. He had said no more dogs but he surprised me with the puppy that year. He is a jerk most of the time but he has his moments. ;)

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

1- I have a 9 month old granddaughter that I get to baby sit.

2- I am still juggling too many drugs (9) to try to live with my daily headaches. I have an unsupporting husband and a Nuerologist that likes to supposrt the drug companies and I can't seem to reduce the drugs OR reduce the amount of headaches that I have.

3- I need to get myself motivated to reorganize my house so that I can eliminate half of my daughters toy room and give myself a hobby/computer area. Maybe if I have an area to scrapbook I will finally work on ouor Disneyworld trip pictures from 2 years ago.

10. Parents:
My mother is wonderful. She lives in Ohio and we are very close. I take trips to see her 2-3 times a year and she comes to see me at least once a year.
My father, on the other hand, is a horrible person. I won't elaborate too much but, so you won't think too badly of me for saying that about my father, there was a lot of varying kinds of abuse when I was a kid. Even so, after many years of therapy, I tried to have a normal relationship with him and that failed as he had no interest in it. I will leave it at that.:(

11. Who are some of your closest friends:
I was an Air Force brat and then joined the Navy so I never stayed in one place long enough to make (and keep) friends. I have one childhood friend that I keep in contact with but she lives across the country from me. I also have a close friend from High School but he also lives in a different state and I never get to see him. I do have some internet friends though. That is pretty much it.

Well, I hope this is what she was looking for.

My first post here and it is pretty damn cool!

My son just got a call last night from The Rave in Milwaukee.

They want his band, "Trials of Innocence", to open for Motorhead!!!!!!!

Of ALL the bands that they could have called, they called my son's band! I am sooooooo freakin' psyched!!!!

My husband wants to go on an end of summer vacation that would have us gone during the concert but I think it is a 'moral imparative' that I talk him out of it, The Rave will be recording it for some reason but it is NOT the same as being there for it.

What do you all think?

(ooooh, I am still squeeling - am I too old for that?)
